Five quick activities
- Spelling: spin, say the word, and everyone writes it down. Check together.
- Sentence building: use the word in a sentence with at least eight words.
- Three-word story: spin three times and write a short story that uses all three words.
- Describe it: give three clues without saying the word and let the others guess.
- Rhymes: name as many words as you can that rhyme with it.
Your own word lists
Paste in this week's spelling list, topic vocabulary, or words in the language you are learning. Every word gets an equal slice, and you can remove each word once it has been practised. Press Share Link to This Wheel and send the link home so pupils can practise the same list.
Not the newspaper puzzle
In some newspapers a word wheel is a puzzle where you make words from letters arranged in a circle. This is a different thing: a spinner that picks a whole word at random. For single letters, use the letter wheel. For drawing ideas, try the drawing prompt wheel.
Questions
Can I use my spelling list?
Yes. Clear the list and paste your words, one per line.
How many words can I add?
As many as you like. Up to about 50 stay easy to read on the wheel, and the chosen word always shows in full.
Can I stop words repeating?
Yes. Press Remove Winner from List after each spin. For a spelling test, that means 10 spins give 10 different words from the 30 on the wheel.
