Is Spin-Wheel.org really free to use?
Yes. There is no fee, no subscription and no signup. You can make as many wheels as you like and spin as often as you want.
Is the wheel spinner truly random?
Yes. Each spin uses your browser's secure random number source (crypto.getRandomValues), and every item gets an equal slice, so every item has the same chance unless you add it more than once. More on how the pick works.
How many items can I add to the wheel?
As many as you need. There is no limit. For a readable wheel, keep it under about 100 items so each slice stays visible.
Can I save my wheel for later?
Your wheel is not stored on our server or in your browser, and it is gone when you close the tab. To keep it, spin once and press Share Link to This Wheel in the result box, then bookmark the link. The names travel inside the link, so it opens the same wheel every time.
Does Spin-Wheel.org work on mobile devices?
Yes. It works on phones and tablets as well as laptops and interactive whiteboards. Tap Spin, or tap the wheel itself, to spin.
Can I share my wheel with others?
Yes. After a spin, press Share Link to This Wheel in the result box. It copies a link with your names, slice colors and background. Anyone who opens it gets the same wheel. You can also share the result as an image or a video.
How does the multiple winners feature work?
Set Winners to 2 or 3 on the bar under the wheel. One press of Spin picks that many, ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and takes them off the wheel so nobody is picked twice. Press Put them back to return them.
What happens to duplicate items?
Each copy gets its own slice on the wheel, so an item added twice has twice the chance of being picked.
Can I change the wheel colors?
Yes. Open Wheel settings under the list. There are five color sets (Default, Warm, Cool, Earth and Grays), and you can set each slice color yourself.
How do I adjust the spin duration?
Open Wheel settings and use the Spin length slider. It goes from 4 to 12 seconds.
Do you collect my data or wheel items?
Your list stays in your browser tab and we do not store it. If you use Auto-fill, only the topic you type is sent to our server. If you press Share Link, the list goes inside the link itself. The site uses Google Analytics; the Privacy Policy has the details. Read the Privacy Policy.
Can I use this for commercial purposes?
Yes. You can use it for raffles, giveaways, contests, classroom activities, team selection or anything else, personal or commercial. Paid raffles have their own rules depending on where you are, so check those first.
Why can't I hear sound effects?
Check the speaker button in the top left corner of the wheel: if it shows a crossed-out speaker, sound is off. Also check that your device is not muted. Some browsers only play sound after you have pressed something on the page, so it starts after your first spin.
What does Auto-fill do?
Type a topic, such as '5th grade reward ideas', and Auto-fill suggests 20 items and a background picture to match. You can edit the list before you spin. It is limited to a few requests a minute.
Can I export my results as images or videos?
Yes. After a spin, the result box has Share Image and Share Video buttons. You can download the file or share it to WhatsApp, Facebook, X or email. The image shows the winner, and the video records the whole spin, which helps show a draw was fair.
How do I remove a winner from the list?
In the result box, press Remove Winner from List. That slice comes off the wheel, so the next spin only picks from the names that are left. When you pick 2 or 3 winners at once, they come off automatically.
Does the wheel work offline?
Once the page has loaded, spinning keeps working if your connection drops. Auto-fill and sharing need a connection. Nothing is saved between visits, so keep a share link for any wheel you want again.
Can I embed the spin wheel on my own website?
Yes. Add your names on the homepage and an embed code appears near the bottom of the page. Paste it into your own site or class page and it shows just the wheel, filled with your list.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Press Ctrl and Enter (Cmd and Enter on a Mac) anywhere on the page to spin. In Present mode, Space or Enter spins and Escape leaves full screen.
How is Spin-Wheel.org different from Wheel of Names or Picker Wheel?
Wheel of Names and Picker Wheel can save wheels to an account and weight entries, which this site does not. Here there are no accounts: a wheel is kept as a link. It can auto-fill a wheel from a topic, pick up to 3 ranked winners in one spin, record the spin as a video and fill the screen in Present mode.
