Random Country Wheel

    Winners

Spin for a random country. The wheel has all 193 member states of the United Nations, each with the same chance.

    Ideas for a random country

    • Geography quiz: name the capital, the continent and a neighbouring country.
    • Food night: cook a dish from the country you land on.
    • School project: each pupil spins for the country they research and present.
    • Travel daydreaming: spin and plan a week there on paper.
    • Film or music night: find a film or song from that country.

    What is on the wheel

The list is the 193 UN member states, using the short names most people know: Czechia, Eswatini, Timor-Leste and Côte d'Ivoire are in under those names. The UK is one entry, so England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are not listed separately.

Places that are not UN members are left off: Vatican City and Palestine, which are UN observer states, plus Kosovo, Taiwan and territories such as Greenland and Puerto Rico. Add any of them to the list if your game needs them.

    Fewer countries, bigger names

With 193 slices there is no room to write the names, so the wheel shows plain coloured slices and the country appears in full when it lands. The full list is always in the item list next to the wheel. For a wheel you can read from across a room, clear the list and paste one continent, or just the countries your class is studying. For American states, use the US states wheel.

    Questions

How many countries are on the wheel?

193, the member states of the United Nations. Each one has an equal 1 in 193 chance.

Why is England not on it?

Can I spin for one continent only?

Yes. Clear the list and paste the countries from that continent.
