Random Animal Wheel

    Winners

Spin for a random animal. Act it out, draw it, find three facts about it, or say the sound its name starts with.

    Games for any age

    • Animal charades: spin, then act it out with no sounds while the others guess.
    • Draw it in 60 seconds: everyone draws the animal and votes for the best.
    • Twenty questions: one player spins in secret and the rest ask yes or no questions.
    • Phonics: say the first sound of the animal's name, then find something else that starts the same way.

    A quick research task

Spin an animal, then find out four things:

    1. Where does it live in the wild?
    2. What does it eat?
    3. Is it a mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish or insect?
    4. One fact that would surprise a friend.

The list mixes all of those groups on purpose. The penguin, eagle and owl are birds, the frog is an amphibian, the shark is a fish, the bee and butterfly are insects, and the dolphin and whale are mammals, which catches people out.

    Make a themed wheel

Clear the list and add animals for your topic: farm animals, ocean life, rainforest animals or minibeasts. Keep it to about 30 so every name stays readable. Pair it with the drawing prompt wheel for an art lesson.

    Questions

Can I use pictures instead of words?

The wheel shows text only. For younger children, read the name aloud when it lands.

Can I make a farm animal wheel?

Yes. Clear the list and add the farm animals you want.

Can I stop an animal coming up twice?

Yes. Press Remove Winner from List after each spin. In a game of animal charades, each player then gets a different animal to act out.
