Random Colour Wheel

    Winners

Spin to pick a random colour. Each slice is painted in the colour it names, so even young children can read the result.

    Colour games and challenges

    • One-colour drawing: spin and draw a picture using only shades of that colour.
    • Colour hunt: spin, then find five things in the room or garden in that colour.
    • Outfit challenge: wear something in the colour you land on tomorrow.
    • Team colours: give each team the colour it spins for bibs, sashes or table cards.
    • Learning colours: spin and say the colour's name, in English or the language you are learning.

Not the art class colour wheel

In art, a colour wheel is a chart that shows how colours relate: primaries red, yellow and blue, the secondaries between them, and complementary colours opposite each other. This is a spinner that picks one colour at random. The slices are not in colour wheel order, so do not use it to find complements.

    Changing the colours

Slice colours come from the wheel's colour settings, in order: the first slice takes the first colour, and so on. If you add, remove or reorder colours in the list, open the settings and set the slice colours to match. White is left off because the names are written in white and would not show on a white slice. If you just need a quick pick between a few options, the decision wheel is simpler.

    Questions

    Why is there no white?

The names on the wheel are written in white, so they would vanish on a white slice. Add White if you want it and give it a light grey slice in the settings.

    Is every colour equally likely?

Yes. Each colour has one equal slice.

Can I use it for colour by number or painting?

Yes. Spin for each area of the picture and paint it in the colour you land on.
