- Spin for the genre.
- Each person names one film in that genre they would be happy to watch.
- Put those films on the decision wheel and spin again.
- Watch it. No re-spins once the film is chosen.
Tailor the list
- With kids: remove Horror, Thriller and Crime.
- Fussy group: remove the genres someone always vetoes before you spin, not after.
- Add more specific genres: Heist, Courtroom, Sports, War, Space, Coming of age.
- Add a decade wheel: put 1970s to 2020s on a second wheel for a genre and decade combo.
For writers and film clubs
Spin two genres and pitch a film that mixes them: a Western Musical or a Sci-fi Romance. Film clubs can spin the genre for next month and take turns choosing within it. For snacks to go with it, the food wheel can help.
